In a recent virtual event from Becker’s Healthcare, two dozen IT leaders gathered to examine challenges and lessons learned during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Certainly growth in the use—and value—of telemedicine was a top discussion point for the forum, but so too were a variety of other IT digital transformations.
Among the thought-provoking takeaways from the event: Healthcare is an essential business 24x7x365, something the COVID-19 crisis brought home with full force. And healthcare is IT-intensive, as technology touches nearly every area of patient care and staff operations. Projects haven’t stopped during the crisis. Some have remained on track, others were accelerated, and a few were perhaps slightly defocused, but IT has remained operating at the highest of levels.
