As Guardians, we defend, protect, and advance the most vulnerable people in our communities. Across the world, our employees, through their passion and desire to help those in need, are at the heart of our giving.
Our global Heart of Giving programs are open to all full-time and part-time employees. Employees can support their favorite causes and plan meaningful efforts in their own communities with matching gifts, individual volunteer grants, and team volunteer projects at any time during the year. When the need arises, we offer specific giving campaigns with matching gifts above and beyond the standard giving limits, and support various collections and projects in the offices on behalf of local nonprofit organizations.
Bridging the Digital Divide
Throughout our history, NETSCOUT has tried to focus on driving positive outcomes in our communities. Today, the primary focus of our social impact programs is to fulfill our mission as Guardians of the Connected World by helping to bridge the digital divide.

Hackathons
One goal of Netscout’s social impact programs is to help open the door to careers in STEM by reaching out to communities that are often underrepresented in tech. Hackathons combine learning and fun, a great way to get kids involved. In addition to the satisfaction of working with students, a hackathon is an intense team-building opportunity for employee volunteers.
Trinity College
We sponsored a college-level Tech for Good hackathon at Trinity College in Pune, in partnership with Shooting Stars Foundation. Students were invited to attend in-person or virtually. When the hackathon opened, there were 104 teams comprised of 452 students, with 224 online and 228 in person at Trinity College. This was our biggest one yet! Students enjoyed the experience and felt they advanced their skills and made valuable connections with other students and the NETSCOUT team. We enjoyed had fun interacting with students and learning from them as well.
Life in 2031
We partnered with Shooting Stars Foundation for the Equal Opportunity Virtual Hackathon attended by a group of 139 middle and high school students from 7 countries. The theme for the event was Life in 2031. Students considered what the world might look like 10 years from now, whether in learning, travel, culture, climate change, environment, health, or technology. Students attended workshops in HTML and CSS coding, a workshop for ideation and brainstorming presented and a workshop in STEM career exploration. Forty-seven employees volunteered as speakers, mentors, judges and event staff.
Shooting Stars Foundation
We partnered with the Shooting Stars Foundation to host a hackathon in our Allen Texas office for over 60 high school participants from the North Texas Area. Supported by 30+ employee volunteers, participants were challenged to collaborate and build a functioning website or proof of concept or application, with innovative ideas that could benefit society. The event allowed students a chance to recognize and develop their potential to excel in STEM fields and provided a forum for students to learn from and interact with teachers, mentors and industry experts.
UMass Lowell Innovation Hub
We held our in-person hackathon at the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub (UML iHub) in Lowell, Massachusetts. We hosted workshops and "help desks" focused on Internet of Things (IoT) led by NETSCOUT engineers, 3D design led by UML iHub, and web application development led by Nashoba Valley Technical High School. Speakers from the City of Lowell, Mill City Grows, and UTEC challenged the students to solve specific real-world problems related to related to the environment and sustainability.
Sparsha Trust
In Bangalore, India our team planned and successfully executed an engaging hackathon event for 100 students. We partnered with Sparsha Trust to ensure sure low-income students also had an opportunity to participate. It was heartwarming to see children from different backgrounds and experiences work together and help each other. We hope we encouraged the children to be always curious and inquisitive throughout the hackathon and beyond.
Westford MA and San Jose CA
On the same day, we held hackathons in both our Westford MA and San Jose CA offices, with more than 100 middle and high school students in each location! They were challenged to collaborate and build a functioning application or prototype that could benefit society. Students attended workshops hosted by DeltaHacks and CodeWiz on website development and basic application programming.
All-Girls Hackathon
We hosted a Virtual All-Girls Hackathon for 90+ participants middle and high-school students from the Bay Area, Boston, Dallas, Denver, and Chicago. The challenge for the day was developing Innovative Responses to Pandemics, and teams were evaluated on feasibility, creativity, entrepreneurship.
Families That Hack Together
In addition to providing the satisfaction of working with students, a hackathon is an intense team-building opportunity for employee volunteers, who get to meet and work with people across the company. We also have the pleasure of working with NETSCOUT family members who stepped up as student leaders for these hackathons.

NETSCOUT’s Coast-to-Coast Hackathon Event | Heart of Giving
In March, 2019 NETSCOUT organized a simultaneous hackathon in our Westford, Massachusetts, and San Jose, California offices. Supported by our volunteers, 208 students came together to collaborate and use technology to solve issues they see in our local communities or the world at large.
