The Opportunity
A European-based, power company is a leader in generation and transmission of electricity across several countries. The company’s 165,000 employees support 40 million customer locations worldwide, which represents more than a billion dollars in annual revenue. Already an Arbor Edge Defense (AED) customer, they were using AED to protect inbound employee traffic coming in over their VPNs from the Internet into data centers to access corporate applications. In addition, Arbor Cloud provides Carrier Agnostic global DDoS protection through automated signaling from the AED devices in each location to augment DDoS attack management and mitigation.
The Details
The current pandemic forced the energy company to look at additional protections for their network due to increased employee traffic via VPN as the employees worked from home. With the upgrade, AED provided additional security at the network edge defense for the power company’s business operations in France. With the help of the local NETSCOUT® sales team, and using the AED-embedded software licensing technology, they easily upgraded their licenses on 4 AEDs from 5G to 10G.
The Results
The increased DDoS management and mitigation capacity provides the organization and their employees confidence that they will be protected from DDoS attacks that can disrupt their business activity and even damage the organization’s reputation while temporarily working from home. The organization was satisfied with the flexibility of the AED license configuration and the ability of NETSCOUT to execute on a global procurement effort quickly and to the organization’s crisis timeline.
