The Opportunity
A leading global telecom and technology service provider has extensive experience in connectivity, convergence and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as championing mobile financial services and digital transformation in emerging markets. The organization also has mobile operations in over 20 countries, partners with mobile networks in over 40 more, and fixed broadband operations in over 15 markets. As of December 31, 2019, the company had over 600 million mobile customers, over 25 million fixed broadband customers and over 20 million TV customers, including all of the customers in joint ventures and associates.
The Details
During March, Coronavirus had spread across most European Countries and many of the governments enforced a work-from-home lockdown for much of the population. As a result, the traffic on the organization’s network increased abruptly by 50% due to people working from home and using internet services. At the time, the corporation was planning a 100K Flow license increase for their Arbor products in next FY in accordance with their forecast. The increase in network traffic due to the pandemic required the organization to pull this upgrade forward and double the DDoS management, mitigation and visibility capability to 400K Flows. They added 4 Sightline licenses at 100K Flow capacity each.
The Results
The increased DDoS management and mitigation capacity provides the organization, their customers and their customer’s employees confidence that they will be protected from DDoS attacks that can disrupt their business activity and even damage the organization’s reputation while temporarily working from home. The organization was satisfied with the flexibility of the Sightline licensing and the ability of NETSCOUT® to execute on a global procurement effort quickly and to the organization’s crisis timeline.
